On Tuesday (02 December 2025), Red Bull and its sister team Racing Bulls confirmed their line-up for the 2026 Formula One (F1) season. Isack Hadjar made headlines with his promotion to Red Bull, leaving a Racing Bulls seat vacant.
Arvid Lindblad was announced as Liam Lawson’s teammate at Racing Bulls for the upcoming F1 season. The British-Swedish driver will join the team as an 18-year-old, making him one of the youngest drivers to debut.
Lindblad’s career is not as decorated as that of previous Red Bull program graduates, as the Racing Bulls driver has not won Formula Two (F2) or Formula Three (F3). However, he has shown clear growth potential, which convinced the Red Bull hierarchy to take a chance on the youngster.

Family and Background
Arvid Lindblad was born on 8 August 2007 in Virginia Water, Surrey, England. His father is Swedish, and his mother is Indian. He grew up in Surrey and attended the Royal Grammar School, Guildford.
Lindblad’s father has a racing background, having competed in motocross. Following in his father’s footsteps, Lindblad was encouraged to pursue a racing career from a young age. He began karting at the age of five at Daytona Sandown Park.
Early career Karting to F3 and F2
He has multiple international and British karting titles and was signed by Red Bull at the age of 14. The Briton also won the Formula 4 (F4) Macau street race, one of the most prestigious junior events.
In 2024, he joined PREMA Racing in F3, finishing fourth in the championship. He made history that season during the Silverstone GP, becoming the first driver to win both the Sprint and Feature races in a single F3 weekend.
His F3 campaign highlighted his racecraft, wet-weather mastery, and composure under pressure.
Lindblad began his F2 journey with Campos Racing in 2025, the same team that developed Isack Hadjar. He became the youngest-ever F2 race winner in Jeddah at just 17. He ultimately finished sixth in the championship.
He also experienced F1 machinery through free practice sessions and the Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) program. He participated in multiple TPC tests from 2023 onward, demonstrating strong foundational skills with Red Bull machinery.
Lindblad’s rise mirrors Hadjar’s journey, as he consistently met his objectives and showed maturity beyond his age.

The 2026 season is an ideal moment for Lindblad to start his F1 career. With new regulations arriving, every driver and team will adapt to fresh machinery, a clean slate that suits a young, highly adaptable driver. Red Bull views him as having significant long-term potential.
Another major reason behind his promotion is the team’s major policy shift. This change began when long-time Red Bull engineer Guillaume Rocquelin took over the driver development program, replacing Helmut Marko.
Marco’s approach was known for being ruthless and results-driven, prioritizing championship wins and proven records. Rocquelin, however, values growth potential above all. Even without major titles, a driver who shows rapid development and strong fundamentals is considered ready.
Under Marco’s program, Lindblad might have needed to wait several more years. But the new philosophy worked in his favour, earning him a promotion earlier than expected.
Lindblad’s F1 career will also serve as a test of Rocquelin’s policy to determine whether promoting drivers based on potential is viable, or whether Marco’s old, highly selective approach (which discovered Max Verstappen) remains the more effective strategy.
