Kimi Antonelli increased his points lead and will be looking to further solidify it in Singapore. Championship rival George Russell was unable to finish the race in Malaysia and will start from the back of the grid in Singapore, making it difficult for him to keep up the championship fight.

Marina Bay Street Circuit Weather and Track Information
Marina Bay is a street circuit, with the first-ever F1 race held there in 2008. It is one of the most physically demanding tracks on the F1 calendar, with drivers able to lose up to 3 kg of body weight during the race. A bumpy surface combined with humid conditions makes it very difficult for the drivers. The circuit has some unique features, with 19 corners.
| Circuit Name | Marina Bay Street Circuit |
| Circuit Lenght | 5.063 km |
| Race Distance | 308.706 km |
| Number of Laps | 61 |
| Number of Turns | 19 |
| Fastest Lap Record | 1:33.808 Lewis Hamilton (2025) |
Warm and humid conditions are expected, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from 26 to 33 degrees Celsius. Afternoon rain can impact grip, while the heat will be a test for the Pirelli tyres.
George Russell gets a grid penalty for the 2026 Singapore GP.
George Russell had the misfortune of not finishing the race at the 2026 Bahrain GP in Malaysia. He suffered a power unit failure and was on course for the podium before his bad luck.
This was his third finish without points of the season.
He would have taken a new engine as per the Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities (ADUO) regulations. Still, due to the damage in Malaysia, he will have to take a new power unit, which exceeds the power unit limit allocated for the season. A minimum of 10 grid places will be applied and can be increased depending on the specifications.
It is also important to keep in mind that the penalty will be applied for the main race, not the sprint race. This means Russell will have an opportunity to score some points during the sprint race. Russell, who is already 84 points behind his championship rival and teammate, will have to overcome this penalty to keep his hopes for championship glory alive.
Antonelli one step closer to the title
Kimi Antonelli finished second in Malaysia, scoring 18 valuable points and extending his lead to 84 points. Provided he wins in Singapore or simply finishes ahead of his rival, he will move closer to lifting the Drivers’ Championship trophy during the FIA Awards later this year.
Even if the 20-year-old retires in all three of the next races, he will still be leading the championship.
2026 Singapore GP Sprint: Last Sprint of the season
Singapore will be the last sprint race of the 2026 season. Singapore is already physically demanding for the drivers, and adding a sprint to the weekend will make it more interesting.
This also provides more opportunities to score points, especially for those who are involved in midfield battles where each point matters.
