Hollywood Star Will Ferrell Becomes Investor in Leeds United

Will Ferrell, the renowned Hollywood comedian, is set to be announced as a co-owner of Leeds United. This move adds him to the growing list of celebrities investing in English football clubs.

Ferrell Invests in 49ers Enterprises

Ferrell will become a minority shareholder in 49ers Enterprises, the San Francisco-based firm that owns Leeds United. He joins other high-profile investors in the company, including actor Russell Crowe and fellow athletes Michael Phelps and Jordan Spieth.

A Serious Opportunity for Will Ferrell

Sources close to the deal report that Ferrell views his investment as a “serious investment opportunity.” This comes despite his previous comments suggesting he doesn’t have a specific favourite English club. But the recent interest being taken by Hollywood stars in Football, especially the English ones, has made it seem less surprising.

Ferrell Previously Considered Wrexham Investment

Ferrell’s interest in English football isn’t entirely new. He was previously linked to an investment in Wrexham, the club co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. However, his reported love for Leeds appears to have solidified his decision.

Reports suggest Ferrell’s stake in 49ers Enterprises might be larger than that of fellow actor Russell Crowe. The club is expected to announce Ferrell’s involvement soon officially. Sources close to the deal indicate Ferrell’s primary vision aligns with that of other investors: to see Leeds back in the prestigious Premier League.

Leeds to Compete in Championship Playoffs

Currently competing in the Championship, Leeds missed out on automatic promotion but will fight for a Premier League spot in the upcoming playoffs. Celebrity ownership in England’s football scene has seen mixed results. While Wrexham, backed by Reynolds and McElhenney, earned a promotion, Birmingham City, recently acquired by NFL star Tom Brady, suffered relegation.
