Manchester City’s Erling Haaland continued his phenomenal goalscoring form with a first-half hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, securing a dominant 5-1 victory for the Citizens. This achievement puts him in a rare category alongside Premier League legends.
Erling Haaland Equals Record with First-Half Hat-Trick
The prolific Norwegian striker netted twice in the opening 35 minutes before completing his hat-trick deep into first-half stoppage time. This marks only the third time a player has achieved a first-half hat-trick twice in Premier League history, joining Andrew Cole and Michael Owen in this exclusive club.
Haaland wasn’t done there, adding a fourth goal early in the second half to further solidify his dominance.

Dominant Start to the Season
This isn’t Haaland’s first rodeo with a first-half hat-trick. Back in August 2022, during one of his first Premier League appearances, he achieved the feat against then-newly promoted Nottingham Forest, netting three times in the opening 38 minutes of a 6-0 thrashing.
Golden Boot Race and Title Ambitions
With his four-goal performance, Erling Haaland extends his lead in the Premier League’s Golden Boot race to 25 goals, a significant five-goal advantage over his closest competitor, teammate Cole Palmer. While surpassing his record-breaking tally of 36 goals from last season might be out of reach, Haaland remains on course to retain the top scorer title.
Haaland’s goals will be crucial in the remaining fixtures against Fulham, Tottenham, and West Ham as Manchester City chases down league leaders Arsenal. The Gunners hold a one-point lead but have played one more game. Additionally, City has the chance to complete a domestic double with an FA Cup final rematch against Manchester United scheduled for May 25th.
