The Pakistan Cricket Team’s path from timidity and defensiveness to a riveting display of intelligent attacking cricket has been nothing short of interesting in the captivating world of cricket. This newly discovered strategy dubbed the “Pakistan Way,” has given their game new life and enthralled both supporters and competitors. We examine the causes of this astonishing transformation, the influences that shaped their course, and the effects it has had on their performance. Join us as we investigate the fascinating story of the Pakistan Cricket Team’s striking metamorphosis in playing style, which captures the essence of their country’s undying spirit and resiliency.
What is Pakistan Way?
Pakistan way is basically backing your skills and playing at your peak potential without any fear. The players had always talent and skill but somehow the conservative thinking in management throughout Pakistan’s history they could not express. At the local level, if you step down against a spinner or hit a scoop the coaches just through you out of the nets. They consider it against merit. There is a reason that the only batter Pakistan can’t produce is a power hitter.

Brain Child Of Progressive Management
The new management appointed by the Former Chairman Najam Sethi is behind this master plan. Pakistan is known for its unpredictability. Either we are so conservative that we don’t think out of the box or we go 180° and do something that never existed. PCB appointed Rehan-ul-Haq as a Team Manager.
If you’re not aware of the traditional role of the manager in a cricket team, let me get your facts straight. Prior to this, being a Pak manager meant that you will just schedule the camp’s time, hotel bookings, and when to be ready for the bus. But Rehan-ul-Haq’s role as manager is like a football manager. Rehan ul Haq is basically a data analyst. Hasan Cheema made the head of the data department and will report to Rehan ul Haq.
Rehan ul Haq will sit with head coach Grant Bradburn, captain Babar Azam, and director Mickey Arthur. Now the director is totally a new post. And that too online. In Corona, the trend of online teaching and business was trending but a sports team director working from home is an interesting approach and it has Pakistan Way all written over it. One minute conservative next minute out of the box.
Crushing The Fear Of Failure:
Pakistan Cricket has a history of talented players that disappeared. Pakistani selection worked in a very enigmatic. If you didn’t score in two or three matches, you will get dropped unless you are a captain or in the good books of the PCB governing body. So, innately our players over time developed a habit of playing for their milestones. They put themselves ahead of the team and rightly so because they would be thrown out of the team.
Now, this had to be taken out of the batters they should back their skillset and maximize it. You can see it. Shan Masood failed continuously in a bid to improve the run rate but got out cheaply. Still in Sri Lanka, he scored just a fifty but you know the impact of his innings. Shan knows that management will back his failure. Abdullah Shafique had a career strike rate of 43 previously but he made his 200 with a strike rate of 65. It is just about the mindset. Our players don’t lack skill but the mindset which this management has changed.
Confusion over BazBall vs PakBall
Some cricket fans are confusing the Pakistan Way. Pakistan Way is not BazBall. BazBall is an all-out attack no matter what. Pakistan’s way is basically maintenance of positive intent that you should look to score runs rather than just throwing Dean’s bat. Pakistan can’t afford to play BazBall. We don’t have that resources and not the same patience as English media and the fan didn’t throw their team under the bus after 2-0 against arch-rivals. Ashes are the pinnacle of cricket for both nations. Consider if we have a history Ashes-like series and we lost against India in the first two tests. The media and fans would have called the approach pathetic and demanded a change of the entire team and management.
Gully Cricket Rule Helped Pakistan Way :
Anybody who has played in a street of Pakistan knows for a fact that there is a simple rule that if you play consecutive three-dot balls you are declared out or if you hit a sixes that goes in someone’s house you are out. This rule was there so that no Batsman just play with the Dean bat but play shots so that he can get out and everybody gets his turn to bat. Pakistani Team prior to travelling to Sri Lanka applied this rule in the nets and practice matches. Now, batters were also not allowed to play a lofted shot. So, they had to find the gaps. It naturally was the test of their skills to rotate the strike.
During the training camp in Karachi, targets were given to batters. They had to score that set of runs with their batting partners. They could not play 3 dots in a row and had to rotate a strike. They could not even slog out of the ground. 1/2 #ThePakistanWay #Cricket #SLvPAK

Is the hype of Pakistan Way Justified?
The social media hype of Pakistan Way is way over the top. It is still Sri Lanka we did this. Against Sri Lanka, we have done it a few times before also. It is yet to be seen if we do the same against Australia when we are 101/5. So, Pakistan fans should calm down about the Pakistan Way. It is an idea of current management which might change after the world cup. So, too much hush about it is not justified.
Conclusion:
It is a refreshing approach by the Pakistan team to play a new brand of cricket. A unique style coherent to them only. But time will tell how effective it is and how long the “Pakistan Way” lasts.
