Champions Cup Review: Stars of the tournament 

The inaugural Champions Cup came to a thrilling conclusion, with the Panthers emerging victorious under the inspired leadership of Shadab Khan. They faced table-toppers, UMT Markhors, in the final, where the Panthers bowled out Markhors for 122 runs and chased down the target in just 18 overs. Batting Maestros:Top 5 Run-Scorers 

Usman Khan:

Usman Khan was batter of the Champions Cup he got his second batter of the tournament in Pakistan earlier he got in PSL 9 . He left UAE to play for Pakistan earlier this year. Usman scored 272 runs with an average of 54.40 with the highest of 111 runs innings against Dolphins.

Kamran Ghulam:

The consistent performer of domestic cricket was the best batsman for UMT Markhors he scored 250 runs with 2 centuries. He couldn’t perform in the knockout stages, still he had a good tournament and he will be knocking doors for green shirts.

Tayyab Tahir:

Tayyab scored 249 runs for ABL Stallions. He had an average of 49, with 82.17 strike-rate. Tayyab is another middle-order batsman who is a contender for the middle-order for Pakistan ODI team.

Babar Azam:

Babar Azam who was struggling in the Bangladesh series scored 230 runs in just 4 innings. He scored his first ton after a long time in white-ball.He couldn’t play in knockout stages because he was selected for Pakistan vs England test series.

Saim Ayub:

Another Panther batter in the list. He scored 222 runs with an average of 45.

Saim scored 156 runs in the last game of group stage which is the highest score in champions cup by a batter.

Bowling Brilliance: Champions Cups Top Bowlers

Muhammad Hasnain:

Hasnain, the player of the tournament and bowler of the tournament, was the backbone for Lake City Panthers. He took 17 wickets with an economy of 5.18.He made his comeback in the champions cup and can make his return to international cricket after such amazing numbers.

Jahandad Khan:

The highest wicket-taker for ABL Stallions. Jahandad Khan took 10 wickets with an average of 19 and had an economy of 5.28 .He was part of the Shaheen squad who recently played in Australia, Jahandad can be developed into an fast bowling all-rounder in coming years.

Zahid Mahmood:

The only spinner in the list, Zahid took 10 wickets with an economy of 6.15 for UMT Markhors. Zahid was added to the test squad for the England series.

Ahmed Daniyal:

A forgotten young bowler who once played in Big Bash, Ahmed took 10 wickets with an economy of 6.07 and average of 22.80. This tournament was a great outing for him and this performance can make his return in PSL.

Shaheen Afridi:

The lions captain Shaheen took 9 wickets in 4 games with an average of 29.33 and economy of 6.29. He was not in best form and he was getting hit easily by batters. Shaheen needed to get back to his previous form because he wasn’t performing up to his expectations.

Emerging Stars 

Ali Raza:

The young 16 year-old pacer was the emerging player of the tournament.He took 4 wickets with an economy of 4.85. He is a future asset of Pakistan and he should be treated with care and need to develop him for the future. Ian Bishop often admire him in his tweets and that’s how much potential he has

Mubasir Khan:

The young right-arm off spinner took 7 wickets and scored 146 runs, he scored 90 runs in one innings. Mubasir Khan is future star for Pakistan team, he is performing well in red-ball and ODI format. He is another player who should be developed for future.

Mehran Mumtaz:

Another young player who performed in the champions cup was Mehran Mumtaz. He took 7 wickets with an economy of 6.

He can be developed for the Test team since Pakistan are struggling to get wickets with spinners.

Abdul Sammad:

Abdul Samad scored 6 sixes in the first game of the tournament against Panthers.

He scored 145 runs with an strike-rate of 122. He will be a hot pick for upcoming PSL.
