Game-Changing Proposal: MCC Calls for Significant Cutback in ODI Cricket Post-2027 World Cup

Cricket is going to be changed forever if this Game-Changing Proposal gets accepted by the ICC. There is a 13-Members committee led by former England Test captain Mike Gatting called World Committee made by MCC to suggest changes for the betterment of Cricket.

This committee has suggested that there should be no bilateral ODIs series played other than the year before the World Cup. The committee has suggested this because the workload on the players is huge really.

The Goal

The goal of this Game-Changing Proposal is obviously to reduce the stress on the players who are shackled by the leagues around the world.

The committee is also hopeful of increased quality in One Day Internationals and a much-needed space in the global cricketing calendar.

The leagues are a headache for the players and ICC, they both can not do anything against them neither the players nor the ICC.

Recently the Indian Premier League has expanded itself to 10 teams and it takes two months to complete its one season.  BCCI even aims to expand it further from 74 matches to 94 matches.

Even players are stuffed up with so many leagues around the globe. They have to choose between their national duty and the leagues.

Some players give up their national responsibility over leagues like Trent Boult recently gave up on his central contract.

Is this likely to happen?

Whether it is likely or unlikely will be decided by the ICC. It is just a Game-Changing Proposal for now from MCC’s committee to the ICC. One thing is for sure it will not get a positive attitude from passionate cricket fans.

Why? The simple answer will be they just love the format and it is the only format that gives them all from temperament of the Test to curiosity of T20s.

This change will kill the player’s careers also players like Babar Azam, Shubham Gill, and Rassie Van Der Dussan who are rising stars of One Day Cricket will no longer have access to One Day Cricket.

Will they give up on their favorite format so easily? Answer is no.

What are your thoughts? Do you want to give up bilateral ODIs?
