One of the most prestigious races on the Formula One calendar, F1 fans await another exciting event in 2023. The track at Silverstone is known for its high speeds and challenging corners, and now evermore interesting with new regulations in place and the desire to see how the drivers have adapted to it in this circuit.
Glory on my mind
In recent years, being the home track for Sir Lewis, Mercedes has dominated the British Grand Prix, winning the race six times in the past seven years. However, the team has struggled so far in 2023 and also failed to continue their streak of 6 wins last year. They will be looking to turn things around at Silverstone and get a fresh start rolling into the business end of the season. Verstappen would want to register his first win at this iconic circuit after a heartbreak DNF in 2021 when a contest of the ages on the track between Hamilton and Max was cut short due to a collision from behind by the P2 Hamilton.

Upgrades Galore
One of the major storylines heading into the British Grand Prix is the upgrades that the teams have brought to the track. Many of the teams, notably Mercedes, have brought a new front wing and rear wing in the hopes of improving airflow to the car’s cooling system and enhancing the downforce. Red Bull along with a couple of teams has introduced a new floor and diffuser. Ferrari is also expected to have some new parts, and it will be interesting to see how it will affect their on-track performance.
Thrilling Silverstone
Silverstone has proven to be a fast and flowing track that rewards drivers with good car control. History tells us that drivers who can push the limits through the corners and who are good at managing their tires will be at an advantage.
With several long straight lines, top speed would be instrumental. Drivers with powerful engines and who are good at drafting will be able to make up places on the straights. Consequently, DRS can be a game changer on these straights, reducing drag and downforce, and cars tend to reach their maximum potential.
Red Bull, of course, is the current favorite to win the race, with Max in stupendous form and Checo trying to keep up. But based on these factors, many drivers are looking strong at Silverstone including Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, and George Russell. These drivers have all shown that they have the speed and car control to be competitive at Silverstone.
