Younis Khan Takes the Helm: Mentoring Afghanistan at the Champions Trophy!

The ACB officially confirmed this strategic appointment on Wednesday as Younis Khan will join the Afghan team ahead of the tournament that is scheduled to take place in Pakistan. “ACB has assigned former top-order Pakistani player Younis Khan as Mentor for Champions Trophy 2025. He will join the team before the event starts in Pakistan,” said Sayeed Naseem Sadat, spokesman for the ACB.

Younis Khan’s Impressive Track Record

Younis Khan has a career record of 10,099 runs in 118 Tests. Younis Khan was the batting coach for Afghanistan in 2022. His vast experience in the game and his success as a captain when Pakistan won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2009 indicates that he would be able to guide the Afghan players well. He has also received valuable coaching experience through his stints with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and as head coach for the Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
