The Pakistan women’s cricket team has made history by qualifying for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 after an outstanding performance in the qualifiers. The Women in Green maintained a perfect record, winning all five of their matches and showcasing remarkable consistency and skill.
They began their campaign with a 38-run victory over Ireland in the opening game of the tournament. This was followed by a six-wicket win against Scotland and a commanding 65-run triumph over the West Indies. The qualifiers were held to determine the two teams that would join the 2025 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place later this year in India.

Spinners Rameen Shamim and Nashra Sandhu were instrumental in Pakistan’s success, recording the best bowling economies of the tournament (minimum 25 overs) at 3.47 and 3.54 respectively.

Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, expressed his delight and stated that the women’s team certainly deserves recognition and rewards for their exceptional performance.
Throughout the qualifiers, Fatima Sana led from the front, excelling not only in her role as captain but also with key contributions in every match. The team, which had previously lost five consecutive ODIs before the tournament, found its rhythm and identity under her leadership. Aliya Riaz provided crucial innings when needed, while Sandhu and Shamim consistently turned games around on worn pitches. Sidra Amin was a constant force with the bat, consistently scoring runs.
What comes next may not be entirely in the team’s control. With the World Cup set to be held in India, the Pakistan Cricket Board has clarified that participation will depend on government approval. As was the case with the men’s team last year, discussions are ongoing about the possibility of moving matches to neutral venues if political tensions persist.
Regardless of what lies ahead, the team has already accomplished its mission in remarkable fashion. With calm determination and outstanding talent, they have secured their spot among the elite teams in women’s cricket.
