Japan took the initiative early on, with Seren Tanaka scoring a field goal in the 12th minute. They maintained control throughout the first half despite Pakistan’s attempts to equalize.
Pakistan’s persistence paid off in the third quarter. Ajaz Ahmed netted the equalizer in the 34th minute, followed by Abdul Rahman’s goal three minutes later, giving Pakistan a crucial lead.
Japan refused to surrender. Kazumasa Matsumoto’s goal in the 42nd minute brought them back on level terms. Both teams pressed for a winner in the final minutes, but the score remained tied, forcing the match into a penalty shootout.
