In a historic move for Pakistani football, Haroon Malik, Chairman of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Normalisation Committee (NC), signed MoU-Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yasser Al Misehal, President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF).
The ceremony, graced by SAFF’s General Secretary Ibrahim Alkassim and NC member Saud Hashimi, marks a significant milestone as the first collaboration of its kind in Pakistan’s football history.
A Collaborative Framework between SAFF and PFF
The MoU signifies a pivotal moment, following six months of relentless efforts by the NC, led by Chairman Haroon Malik. It aims to establish a robust collaborative framework between the PFF and SAFF. The primary objective revolves around fostering enduring ties for the mutual advancement, promotion, and triumph of football within both federations.

Strategic Goals and Initiatives
One of the key aspects of this agreement involves crafting a comprehensive calendar for 2024, with a keen focus on elevating the Women’s National Team and Men’s Youth National Teams. The intent is to explore avenues for friendly matches, contemplating venues in Saudi Arabia or Pakistan.
This initiative aims to bolster international exposure and enhance the competitive experience for players from both nations. Additionally, both federations commit to facilitating regular virtual exchanges between their sporting departments, covering diverse domains such as Marketing, Referees, VAR, Women’s and Youth Football, Sports Science, and Football-related technologies.
A Momentous Leap for Pakistani Football
Expressing his gratitude, NC Chairman Haroon Malik said: “I want to thank the Saudi Federation for the MoU and their unwavering support in uplifting football in Pakistan. This signifies a monumental leap forward, as Saudi Arabia makes its inaugural engagement in Pakistani football. It holds the promise of reshaping the future of football in our country.”
NC member Saud Hashimi further elaborated on the significance, stating: “The Saudi Federation’s (SAFF) substantial investments in football systems and infrastructure are commendable. Their acknowledgment of PFF’s aspirations to accelerate football in Pakistan, coupled with their goodwill, paves the way for enduring benefits. We eagerly anticipate integrating their best practices into the fabric of PFF.”
