Dwayne Bravo Appointed as Bowling Consultant for Afghanistan’s T20 World Cup Campaign

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has made a significant addition to their coaching staff by appointing former West Indies allrounder Dwayne Bravo as their bowling consultant for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup.

Preparation and Arrival in the Caribbean

Afghanistan’s squad has already arrived in St Kitts and Nevis, where they will conduct a ten-day preparatory camp. During this crucial training period, Bravo will join the team, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to the table.

Bravo’s Legacy and Experience

Dwayne Bravo, a key figure in West Indies’ T20 cricket history, played a pivotal role in their two T20 World Cup victories. He retired from international cricket after the 2021 T20 World Cup but has continued to showcase his talent in various T20 leagues around the world. Most recently, he participated in the ILT20 league, representing the MI Emirates and helping them clinch the championship.

With an impressive record of 625 wickets in 573 T20 matches, Bravo is the leading wicket-taker in T20 cricket. His vast experience in different conditions and his variations make him an invaluable addition to Afghanistan’s coaching setup.

Coaching Credentials

Bravo has also ventured into coaching. He currently serves as the bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), a position he assumed after retiring from the league in December 2022. Under his guidance, CSK has continued to excel, leveraging his variations and techniques to strengthen their bowling unit.
