The uncertainty around the Champions Trophy 2025 has finally faded PCB, BCCI, and ICC have reached a mutual agreement that the Champions Trophy will be played on a hybrid model. India will play their group stage and knockout games at a neutral venue and the rest of the tournament will be played in Pakistan.
The Agreement For Champions Trophy
This agreement is not limited to the 2025 Champions Trophy it will be in effect for all the tournaments hosted by India or Pakistan in the course of the next four years until 2028. Both teams will play their matches at a neutral venue when one of the countries will be hosting an ICC tournament.
This arrangement will come into effect from next year’s Champions Trophy and will also be followed in the Women’s World Cup in India the same year. In 2026 India will be co-hosting the Men’s T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka and Pakistan will not travel to India in these tournaments.

Pakistan To Host Women’s World Cup
Additionally, ICC awarded Pakistan the Hosting rights for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028 which will be the last tournament that will come under this tournament marking the end of a four-year cycle. After this cycle concludes further decisions will be made based on the political relations between both countries. India will be hosting the 2029 Champions Trophy and this debate will likely start again.
What Will be the Neutral Venue for the Champions Trophy?
The neutral venue will be selected by the host country and approved by the ICC. Pakistan has to submit a neutral venue for India’s matches within twenty-four hours after the passing of the resolution. UAE is the top choice as it has a record of serving as the neutral venue for ICC tournaments in the past.
After months of negotiations and uncertainty in which both sides held their grounds firm and for most of the time it was stale finally both sides retreated from their initial rigid stance and came to an agreement that both sides could say that there was something in it for both of them. The schedule for the Champions Trophy is yet to be announced.
