PCB renewed the categories of 87 local players across five categories. Notable names include test cricketers Hassan Ali, Saim Ayub, and Mohammad Amir along with them Usama Mir earned the promotion from the Diamond to the Platinum category before the upcoming PSL draft for the 2025 season. The draft will be held on 11 January 2025 time and the venue is yet to be announced.
Category renewals were announced by PCB via press release on Tuesday. Earlier this month PCB opened registration and transfer window for PSL draft 2025. Six franchises will unveil the final relegation and retention list of players at the end of the month.
Four players have been added, and nine have been retained, for a total of 13 players in the platinum category. This is the top-tier category in the PSL draft. The Diamond category, which is the second most valuable tier, consists of 16 players. A similar number of players will be in the silver category. The number of players in the gold and emerging categories is 30 and 12, respectively, for the PSL draft 2025.

Pakistan Super League will be held in April and May next year along with the Indian Premier League. PSL moved from its traditional February-March window due to the champions’ trophy scheduled in February. This also affected the date of the PSL draft in the second week of January.
