As we build up towards the sixth race of the 2023 season, we are at Monaco for it. All anticipated race is here, the Monaco Grand Prix 2023 will take place on May 28th, Sunday. Following the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2023, fans will be eager to watch the Monaco Formula One race.
Monaco GP will kick off back-to-back race weekends, with Spanish Grand Prix to follow. There are many things to take into account, before watching this Monte Carlo beauty.
Cancellation of the Italian Grand Prix
The 2023 season of Formula One suffered a setback when Emilia Romagna was abandoned due to heavy flooding in the country. Due to consistent rains in Italy, the country has been flooded. The natural disaster has forced countless evacuations and many deaths too. Hence, the race was canceled till further notice.
This has diverted the attention of Formula One enthusiast towards the Monaco GP, making it a lot more interesting.
The Start of European Leg and the Upgrades
As the case with the Italian GP, Monaco Grand Prix 2023 will be the start of the European leg of Formula One 2023. The European leg always brings excitement. This year will be no different. Many changes and upgrades are expected in the latter part of this year and especially in Europe.
The most anticipated is the Mercedes upgrade, which will be discussed below. Will Monaco 2023 provide us with the entertainment we expect?

Mercedes Upgrade
The decision of Mercedes to bring the upgrade package to the Monaco GP can be seen from two perspectives. One, it is a brilliant move, and on the other hand, it is a stupid move. If we see the brilliance in the decision, it only comes as confidence shown by the Mercedes team and their belief that they can close the gap with Redbull. If we see the stupidity in this decision, it can be seen from the fact that Monaco is a track where maximum downforce and driving skills play a crucial role. Regardless, this makes Mercedes a team worth watching out for this year at Monaco.
The Big Guns
As we always know, Verstappen will again be looking to replicate his performance in the Monaco GP. He was back in form in Balu when he won the race from P9 by defeating his teammate. What a driver he is! Absolutely out of this world. He will be yearning to settle the score with his teammate, Perez for the last time at Monaco.
Who will win it?
Charles Leclerc has shown what he is capable of doing. He showed us glimpses of that in Baku. In 2021, he was in the best position to win the race in Monaco, but his gearbox failed and unfortunately, kicked him out of the podium finish chance. But this time it feels different with Ferrari and Leclerc. We’ve seen it at Azerbaijan Grand Prix and we can see it here too. Leclerc will be the favorite to win the race at Monaco.
