Belgians are preparing for Euro 2024 with a new-look Belgium squad, marking the end of their so-called “golden generation.” While players like Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and Jan Vertonghen remain, the likes of Eden Hazard and Toby Alderweireld have moved on. This presents an opportunity for younger players to make their mark on the international stage.
Who Will Be Tedesco’s Men?
Goalkeepers:
With Thibaut Courtois out due to injury and a rift with coach Domenico Tedesco, Koen Casteels will be Belgium’s number one in Germany. Matz Sels provides backup.
Defenders:
Vertonghen, the most-capped player, remains, but Alderweireld has retired. Arthur Theate and Wout Faes are likely starters, with youngsters like Koni De Winter hoping to impress.
Midfielders:
De Bruyne is the undisputed creative force. Amadou Onana, Orel Mangala, or Youri Tielemans are likely to fill the other midfield spots alongside him. Youngsters like Arthur Vermeeren are pushing for a place.
Forwards:
Lukaku will spearhead the attack, but competition is fierce. Jeremy Doku’s impressive form at Manchester City should see him start, while Lois Openda provides a strong alternative. Charles De Ketelaere and Leandro Trossard are also in contention.

Expected Lineup and Formation from Belgium Squad:
Tedesco has experimented with formations, but a 4-3-3 seems most likely. De Bruyne, Doku, and Lukaku are the likely attacking trio, with Faes and Vertonghen at centre-back. Onana or Mangala could join Tielemans in midfield behind De Bruyne.
