New Zealand has unveiled its 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Pakistan, scheduled to take place from March 16 to March 26. The squad features a mix of experienced players and fresh talent, with all-rounder Michael Bracewell set to lead the team.
Bracewell Takes Charge as Captain
Michael Bracewell, who was part of New Zealand’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad, will captain the side for this home series. Expressing his excitement about the leadership role, Bracewell acknowledged the excellent work done by Mitchell Santner in white-ball cricket.
“Mitch Santner has done a fantastic job as captain, and I aim to build on his work while fostering a positive and enjoyable environment for the team,” Bracewell stated in a release by New Zealand Cricket (NZC).

Squad Composition and Key Inclusions
The squad sees the return of senior spinner Ish Sodhi and fast bowler Ben Sears, who had missed the Champions Trophy due to a hamstring injury. In a strategic move to manage the workload of the fast bowlers, pacers Kyle Jamieson and Will O’Rourke will be available for the first three matches, while Matt Henry, the highest wicket-taker in the Champions Trophy 2025, will play the final two games.

Pakistan’s Quest for Redemption
Pakistan, on the other hand, will be looking to turn the tide in their favor after a disappointing outing in New Zealand in early 2024, where they lost the T20I series 4-1 under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi. Following that series defeat, Afridi was replaced, and Pakistan is now embarking on a new era under the leadership of Salman Ali Agha.
A More Aggressive Approach
The visitors are expected to play a more attacking brand of cricket, focusing on power-hitting and aggressive strategies to challenge the Kiwis. With a revamped squad and a renewed mindset, Pakistan will be determined to improve its record in New Zealand.
Seeking to End the Losing Streak
New Zealand has traditionally dominated Pakistan in home conditions, and Pakistan will be eager to break this pattern. With new players stepping in and a hunger to prove themselves, the visitors will be looking to make a strong statement in this series.
