With the World Cup approaching fast, Pakistan’s Bold Decision has caused some controversy across social media as Pakistan Cricket Board refused to play a few ODI’S with Sri Lanka with two WTC tests. Let’s take a deeper look into the matter.
Asia Cup Controversy
The main reason for Pakistan’s Bold Decision is due to the matter of the Asia Cup. Asia Cup 2023, which was to be fully held in Pakistan, will now be held in UAE and Pakistan, with only two or three games being played in Pakistan. This happened due to India’s refusal to come to Pakistan. Sri Lanka proposed an offer to host the whole tournament which sparked rage in PCB. As they wanted to take their hosting rights.

Is PCB Not Happy With SLC?
Pakistan’s Bold Decision also shocked the Sri Lankan Board but the matter is now closed. Pakistan refused the offer of SLC to play a few ODI’S with Sri Lanka. They will now only play two tests with the island nation. Another main reason for Pakistan’s Bold Decision is that they don’t want to overwork their players with the World Cup and Asia Cup coming up even though it could be a warm-up or preparation series for them. PCB sometimes makes poor decisions regarding their team and players. e.g Pakistan’s main players are right now featuring in Vitality Blast, make them come back and play the ODI series so that they can prepare before heading into the World Cup, but no.

He stated that he was shocked and sad when he saw Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka not supporting Pakistan to host the whole edition of the Asia Cup. He also stated that the excellent relationship between Pakistan Cricket Board and Sri Lankan Board got heat up. This is the reason why Pakistan’s Bold Decision had to take place.
It is a clear indication that the PCB is not happy with the Sri Lankan board stepping in to offer to host the Asia Cup in September when it is Pakistan’s turn to host the regional event at home,” a PCB source told PTI
Pakistan at first showed interest in the series but later changed Its stance and refused the generous offer from Sri Lankan Cricket and lost a brilliant opportunity to prepare for the World Cup. This is termed as Pakistan’s Bold Decision while some state it as a poor decision.
The first Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played from July 16 to July 20 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, and the second Test match will be played from July 24 to July 28 at the R. Premed’s International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
