A total of 102 Pakistan players registered themselves for the upcoming edition of the Lanka Premier League. This is the most by a full-member nation, followed by the West Indies cricket team in second place with 75 applications.
During the registration window, which opened from May 8 to May 20, a total of 650 players from full-member nations registered for the league. From these 650, only 310 players will be shortlisted to become a part of the Player Draft on June 1.
Pakistan players dominate registrations
“The highest number of registrations from Full Member nations came from Pakistan, South Africa, the West Indies, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Australia, and England,” the franchise league said in a statement.
“Among the registrations are 102 players from Pakistan, 75 from the West Indies, 66 from South Africa, 48 from Bangladesh, 41 from New Zealand, 24 from Australia, 15 from England, and 12 from India.”

Among associate nations, the United States of America (USA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have the most registrations. The tournament will begin on July 17, with the final set to be played on August 8. A total of five teams will take part in the league representing Galle, Jaffna, Colombo, Dambulla, and Kandy.
LPL teams pre-draft signings
Each team has been allowed to retain a total of four players, two of which have to be Sri Lankan. Dambulla Sixers signed Sahibzada Farhan as their Icon Player while also picking Reeza Hendricks as their foreign pick. No other team besides Dambulla have picked more than one overseas player so far, with Jaffna Kings and Kandy Royals picking Shakib Al Hasan and Moeen Ali respectively.
