There is something special about watching someone chase a dream for years and finally catch it. For Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr, that moment arrived on a Thursday night in Saudi Arabia and it was worth every bit of the wait. Nearly 3 years and 4 months after joining Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo has the crown of Saudi Football.
The 3 seasons Cristiano Ronaldo spent in Saudi Arabia were hectic to say the least. When Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr back in January of 2023, Al-Nassr were top of the table. But fortune changed for Al-Nassr as they slipped to 2nd on the table. The bad luck followed for the next two seasons as Al-Nassr finished 2nd and 3rd in 23/24 and 24/25 respectively. Although Al-Nassr couldn’t win the league Cristiano Ronaldo was shattering records week in and week out.
A Night to Remember
The game itself had everything a football fan could want. Sadio Mané got things going with a powerful header just before half-time. Kingsley Coman then made it two early in the second half with a sharp finish after a quick one-two near the box. Damac pulled one back through a Morlaye Sylla penalty, and for a moment the tension crept back in.
Then Ronaldo took over. He curled a low free-kick from a tight angle near the left touchline. It slipped through a crowd of bodies and found the net. The stadium erupted. He added a second late on a fierce close-range finish to make it 4-1 and put the title beyond any doubt. Al-Hilal won their own game that night but it did not matter. Al-Nassr finished two points clear at the top.

Years of Near Misses
The road to this title was not easy. Since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023 Ronaldo had come close but never close enough. Al-Hilal dominated the league in 2023-24 finishing 14 points clear. The season after that Al-Nassr finished third. There were cup finals lost on penalties. There were tears. There was even a spell where Ronaldo went on leave to show his frustration.
Through it all he kept scoring. He hit 35 league goals one season and 25 the next. The individual records kept piling up. But the team trophy, the one thing that truly matters in football, stayed out of reach.
The Coach Who Changed Everything
Jorge Jesus arrived and changed the mood at the club. He paired Ronaldo with João Félix and the two clicked quickly. The team played with more belief. Even when Ronaldo missed weeks through injury the squad held firm and stayed near the top of the table all season.
It was not the biggest spending season for Al-Nassr. But it turned out to be the smartest one. Jesus had promised to deliver a title when he arrived. On Thursday night he kept that promise.
What Comes Next
Ronaldo is now 41 years old and heading into a World Cup summer with Portugal. His last major club trophy before this was a Coppa Italia with Juventus back in 2021. That gap is now closed. The one trophy still missing from his collection is a World Cup winner’s medal and Portugal kick off their 2026 campaign against DR Congo on June 17.
For now though this moment belongs to Al-Nassr and to Ronaldo. After years of frustration and near misses they finally got it done. Sometimes the wait makes the win feel even sweeter.
