Ten Hag Seeks New Striker Reinforcement as Man Utd Goals Dry Up

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has identified a new striker as a key priority for the summer transfer window, amidst ongoing struggles from big-money signing Rasmus Hojlund. According to Erik, it would help solve the current dip in goals.

United Lacking Bite in Attack

Despite sitting sixth in the Premier League, Manchester United’s attacking output has been a significant cause for concern. With just 45 goals in 31 games, they are outscored by a staggering 10 other teams in the division. The arrival of Hojlund last summer for a hefty £72 million was meant to bolster their attacking options, but the young Danish striker’s form has been inconsistent.

Not only this, Manchester United has allowed their rivals to catch up on their lead in a considerable amount of games, which may justify the coach’s demand for a new striker.

Hojlund’s Fading Flame

While Hojlund enjoyed a hot streak between December and February, scoring in six consecutive games, a muscle injury six weeks ago seems to have derailed his momentum. He has failed to recapture his scoring form since then, prompting Ten Hag to seek reinforcements upfront.

Ten Hag Cries Out for Depth through the New Striker

“I think it would help,” Ten Hag said when asked about the importance of signing a proven goalscorer. He emphasized the need for more attacking options, highlighting the lack of depth that has impacted their results this season. Specifically, the manager pointed to the striker and left-back positions as areas where additional quality is crucial.

Uncertain Future for Ten Hag

With the demand for the New striker on one side, Ten Hag’s long-term future at Old Trafford remains unclear. While he received significant financial backing in his first transfer window, the team’s recent dip in form raises questions about whether he will be given another opportunity to reshape the squad.

It will be important to note how the club decision-makers now act to the current situation of the team and its performance. Inevitably, a tough call for them.

More Firepower Needed

Despite Hojlund’s 13 goals in 34 games across all competitions, Ten Hag is looking for a more prolific and reliable goalscoring threat to spearhead the attack next season. With the Dutchman seeking a turnaround in fortunes, a new striker could prove to be a pivotal addition for Manchester United.
