PSL Trade: Karachi Kings’ Swap Shan Masood for Faisal Akram Ahead of PSL 9 Draft

In a strategic pre-draft PSL Trade for the upcoming season nine, Karachi Kings have swapped players with Multan Sultans. The trade involves the inclusion of Pakistan’s current Test captain, Shan Masood, into the Karachi Kings’ squad. This high-profile exchange sees left-arm wrist spinner Faisal Akram and valuable draft picks leaving the Kings’ camp.

Karachi Kings’ Acquisition of Shan Masood through this PSL Trade

Shan Masood, a seasoned player with a notable stint at Multan Sultans since the 2018 season, is set to join the Karachi Kings. Masood debuted in the PSL in 2019 against none other than the Kings themselves. His impactful performance aided the Sultans in securing the top league standings in 2020. This marked their maiden playoff entry. With an impressive tally of 1,318 runs in 42 matches, Masood’s pivotal role contributed significantly to Sultans’ championship victory in 2021.

Imad Wasim’s Transition to Islamabad United

In a separate and interesting PSL Trade, Karachi Kings bid farewell to their former skipper, Imad Wasim. He has been transferred to Islamabad United for the upcoming season. Wasim will be seen in the colours of Islamabad United in the Platinum category. 

Hasan Ali, classified in the Diamond category, moves to Karachi Kings. This created an exchange where the Kings received Islamabad United’s first-round silver pick in return for their second-round silver pick. Time will uncover which PSL Trade will prove to be the luckiest one. 

PSL 9 Draft Details and Schedule

The much-anticipated draft for PSL season nine is slated to take place at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. The event is tentatively scheduled from 8th February to 24th March 2024. PSL 9 is set to showcase not only the strategy of teams but also the emergence of new talent in the cricketing landscape.
