James Anderson: Career Review

James Anderson, 41 years old, also known as Jimmy Anderson, has played the sport for over 20 years. He’s also called the ‘King of Swing’ as he mastered the art of peace and swing. International debuts(s)

James Anderson played in all three formats of the game. He made his ODI debut on the 15th of December, 2002, against Australia in Melbourne. He then debuted in test cricket on the 24th of May, 2003, against Zimbabwe at Lord’s. Lastly, Anderson made his T20 debut on the 9th of January, 2007, against Australia in Melbourne.

James Anderson demonstrated an interest in cricket at a young age and was supported by his parents. His journey started in Burnley, Lancashire where he played as a fast bowler for local clubs. 

With the help of his impressive performances in local leagues for the Lancashire youth team, he entered professional cricket. 2003 vs Pakistan (ODI): In just Anderson’s second ODI he took 4/25. This was a significant moment in his early career as it highlighted his potential.

2008 vs New Zealand: Anderson helped England clinch a victory against the Kiwis with his 7/43. 

2014 vs India (lords): The test series against India was leveled with the help of Anderson’s excellence. He picked up 7/77, helping England seal a 95-run victory.

Sachin Tendulkar (2011 England vs. India Series): It seemed as if Anderson loved troubling the great of the game, Sachin Tendulkar. During the 2011 series against India, Anderson troubled him frequently, dismissing him at vital moments. Anderson’s bowling masterclass allowed England to whitewash India, winning the series 4-0. 

2018 vs. India (England): It looks like Anderson had a blast playing against India. In a 5-match series against, he picked up 24 wickets, displaying a masterclass in swinging the ball allowing England to clinch a 4-1 series victory.

2014/2015: This was the time frame when Anderson rose as a cricketer. Ian Botham’s record was broken and he became England’s all-time wicket-taker in Test cricket. Anderson performed well against teams like India and Sri Lanka, delivering impressive performances.
