Hyderabad Kingsmen set for their HBL PSL debut

It’s HBL PSL 11, the new era, 2 new teams have been included in the tournament, with the 7th team, which has been in the news since it was sold for 1.75cr in the team auction. Fawad Sarwar Khan bought it and set the tone.

In his interview with Rellukatay, he stated that his team will go into the auction with a complete purse and will not retain anyone, but actually, Hyderabad went into the auction with a smaller purse compared to the remaining 7 teams.

They retained four players and made one direct signing of their captain, Marnus Labuschagne, for 5.88 crore. They also retained Saim Ayub for a record PKR 12.6 crore, making him the most expensive player in the league.

They also signed Maheesh Theekshana as a replacement for Ottniel Baartman, but the price hasn’t been disclosed. It was surprising how the signing took place, as Hyderabad’s purse was reportedly zero.

But according to the tweet of another team owner, Multan Sultans owner gohar shah he said this: “He’s Bartmann’s replacement. Maxwell can only play if an overseas player gets injured after the 5th game. Pro rata basis will be tough since Theekshana signed for 60 lac vs baartman 1.1cr difference is very minimal. Assume Hyderabad only should have 50 lac left in the purse now.”

Captaincy:

They appointed Marnus Labuschagne as their captain, which raises concern that while having great young local talent like Saim Ayub, who has captained in age-group cricket, and Irfan Khan Niazi, who is the captain of the Faisalabad region, neither was considered even for the vice-captaincy. Instead, Hassan Khan, a former Pakistani player now representing the USA, was named vice-captain.

Hyderabad Kingsmen is a mix of players who were once key figures in Pakistan cricket, like Sharjeel Khan and Hammad Azam, along with several overlooked and USA-based players who previously played domestic cricket in Pakistan.
