Farewell Klopp: The Premier League Will Never Be the Same

I had to refresh Twitter 10 times to believe the news. The German broke the internet this evening by announcing his departure at the end of the season, bidding farewell to Liverpool. Shocking News like these force us to compare them from the time Cristiano left Madrid or Messi announcing retirement. Maybe because he might really be the Messi or the Ronaldo of the coaching world.

Impact Beyond Anfield: Liverpool Fans Left Stunned

I’m not even a Liverpool fan and I can’t even imagine how they’ll manage to take in this news. Not many names come up when you talk about modern football revolutionists. Klopp is Liverpool and Liverpool is Klopp. And I feel like the Premier League would never be the same after this. People like Klopp, Pep, and Emery played a major role in making the League what it is today. The League being the top-ranked commercially has a lot to thank these geniuses.

Reflecting back on the things Klopp has achieved since his time at Liverpool from 2015, the 9 years he has spent, one wouldn’t be wrong to say he has been the Alex Ferguson of Liverpool. Press conferences, match preparations, match pressure, dressing room environment, and countless other things. This is a coach’s reality every single day of the season off the field. On top of that, job security is a phrase unbeknownst to the coaching universe. 4,5 games bad on the trot, one knockout game choked and you are on your way home.

The Pep Problem: A Decade-Long Rivalry

And in Klopp’s case, he always had the Pep Problem. Along with all the difficulties I have mentioned, if you are the only one giving the best football mind in the world, with all his resources, a run for his money for almost a decade, I can’t blame you for draining out.

Klopp’s Immunity at Liverpool

To highlight Klopp’s stature at Liverpool, you might want to go back to last season when Liverpool was struggling to get a Champions League spot. You would see that absolutely no scouser was ever doubting or questioning the boss. The things he has accomplished have put him in a position where he can shank a season and a half and nobody in the club could touch him.

The End of an Era: Klopp’s Lasting Legacy

“This is now the start of a new Era”. These words he said to his team at the end of his first season to console his FA Cup and Europa League final-losing team. And today truly is the end of an era.
