Aussies In IPL 2024: A Glimpse of Aussies Star Players Ahead Of T20i World Cup

The 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed a plethora of talented Australian cricketers showcasing their skills on the grand stage. From seasoned pros like David Warner to emerging stars like Spencer Johnson, Tim David, Jake Fraser-McGurk and the return of players like Travis Head and Mitchell Starc has showcased their talent. Let’s see the performance of Aussies in IPL 2024.

Aussies Excel:IPL 2024 

David Warner

David Warner who recently retired from the test side, was not in his form in this year’s IPL for Delhi Capitals starting in 8 games scored 168 runs at an average of 21.

Travis Head:

The man of the match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Travis Head is in the form of his life returning to IPL after his last appearance in 2017, playing for SRH he scored 533 runs with a strike rate of 201.89 making him the top run-getter.

MP Stoinis

The Western Australian medium-pacer all-rounder scored 361 runs for Luckow with the highest score of 124 in the tournament.

Jake Fraser McGurk

Another young emerging Aussie in IPL while playing for Delhi Capitals scored 330 runs at a strike-rate of 234.04, he was not named in the World Cup squad despite having great form in IPL.

TIM David

The 28-year-old Aussie is having a great season for Mumbai Indians, scoring 241 runs at an average of 30.12.

Pat Cummins

The world Cup-winning captain, Pat Cummins scored 77 runs with the bat and took 

14 wickets with an expensive economy of 9.25.Pat led his team SRH to playoffs for the first time since 2020.

Mitchell Starc

The most expensive Aussie in IPL 2024, Mitchell Starc didn’t perform as expected for Kolkata he only took 12 wickets at an economy of 11.36, however, his side qualified for playoffs.

Cameron Green

After a trade from MI Cameron Green only scored 190 runs for RCB at a low strike rate of 135.71, he had a poor season because his not batting order was not fixed and he batted at different positions 

Glenn Maxwell

The star of the Aus vs Afghanistan match Glenn Maxwell failed in this year’s IPL playing for RCB and scored 36 runs in 8 games, this is the worst performance by Aussies in the IPL this year.

Aussies Struggle In IPL

Despite their talent and promise, several Australian players had a disappointing IPL season. Matthew Wade, Ashton Turner, Jhye Richardson, and Mitchell Marsh struggled to get sufficient playing time for their franchises, while Spencer Johnson was overlooked altogether. Additionally, Adam Zampa and Jason Behrendorff were forced to miss the tournament due to injuries, further adding to the disappointment.
