A day to sum up Pakistan Cricket

A day to sum up Pakistan Cricket

New-ball wickets by a seamer, another left-arm seamer with a reverse swing masterclass, dropped catches, outbowling a defending champion team by bowling, and rain ruins the chances of a huge win by Pakistan.

If you want to sum up Pakistan in a few words, this is how you do it, and all of this happened on October 15, 2025.

Fatima Sana, with a few strikes from Diana Baig as well, tore apart England’s top order with her sharp in-dippers. Heather Knight was repeatedly trapped with sharp in-dippers, but as Pakistan Cricket is, nothing is simple, ever.

Heather took a successful review, then a second appeal was turned down by the umpire, another similar ball and Fatima, this time, took an unsuccessful review, and then it finally happened. Fatima appealed with another in-dipper hitting the front pad, which was given out on the field, and Heather’s review was unsuccessful as well.

A few hours before that in Lahore, Shaheen Afridi tore apart South Africa’s middle-order with a sensational time-travelling spell of reverse swing bowling; even the commentators could not resist mentioning Wasim Akram, especially his dismissal of Prenelan Subrayen reminded everyone of the Allan Lamb dismissal in the 1992 World Cup final.

The Men’s team won the Test in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, after approximately 9 years, but they would know the pain of losing a match to rain in the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, like the Women’s team lost one on the same day.

As in Pakistan Cricket, after every heartbreak, it reminds you of another similar heartbreak in the past, 2 years ago, with a margin of a few days, at the very same venue, and every fan is reminded of Jimmy Neesham’s tweet at this point.

However, there are days when you win a home Test against the defending WTC Champions, and days when you are on your way to win an ODI against England for the first time and that too in a World Cup, but rain has other plans.

Some days, it’s both.
