Mexican GP 2024: Sainz Secures Stunning Victory as Verstappen Hit with Penalties

Sainz Dominate Mexican GP 2024 for Ferrari One-Two

With Verstappen’s penalties, Sainz was able to regain the lead and control the race from the front. The Ferrari driver put in a flawless performance, taking advantage of a late charge from Norris to take the chequered flag 4.7 seconds clear of the McLaren.

Sainz’s teammate Charles Leclerc rounded out the podium in third, completing a remarkable Ferrari one-two finish. The Italian squad’s strategic calls and car pace proved too much for the competition on the day.

Hamilton and Russell Battle for Fourth

Further back, the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell engaged in an entertaining battle for fourth place. After some wheel-to-wheel action, Hamilton ultimately prevailed, denying his teammate valuable points.

Verstappen’s recovery drive saw him cross the line in sixth, salvaging a difficult afternoon for the championship leader. Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg were impressive for Haas, finishing seventh and ninth respectively.

Piastri Shines with Impressive Comeback

One of the standout performances of the race came from McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. The young Australian started 17th on the grid but fought through the field to finish eighth, showcasing his impressive race craft.
