As cricket fans worldwide reel from the intense match between India and Pakistan in New York, the anticipation for their next showdown is already building. The two cricket powerhouses are set to clash again in the Champions Trophy 2025 in March.
However, there’s a chance they could face each other even sooner, if both teams advance to the knockout stages of the ongoing Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbean.
Draft Schedule Unveiled
It has revealed that the draft schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy has been submitted to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The tournament will feature eight teams in a 15-match competition, scheduled from February 19 to March 9. Among the most awaited matches, the India-Pakistan game will be the last of the league matches, heightening the tournament’s climax.
Lahore: The Cricket Hub
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has designated Lahore as the center for the India games. The city’s Gaddafi Stadium is set to host seven matches, including all of India’s games and the final match on March 9, a Sunday. This is, of course, pending approval from the Government of India, which may necessitate a hybrid model involving the UAE if permission to play in Pakistan is not granted. The PCB, however, is moving forward with its preparations in Lahore, alongside other venues.
Venues and Schedule
The PCB has earmarked three cities for the 20-day tournament:
Lahore: Seven matches, including all India games, the semifinal if India qualifies, and the final.
Karachi: The opening match on February 19 and four other games.
Rawalpindi: Five matches, including one of the semifinals.
Karachi’s National Stadium will kick off the tournament on a Wednesday, setting the stage for an exhilarating series of matches across these historic cricketing venues.
The Hybrid Model Contingency
While the hybrid model is not currently on the table, it remains a possible alternative. The Asia Cup last year employed a similar model, with UAE hosting matches due to political tensions. The final decision hinges on the approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian government.

Awaiting the Official Green Light
As preparations continue, the cricketing world watches closely. The final say from the BCCI and the Indian government will determine whether the matches proceed as planned in Pakistan or shift to a hybrid model. Until then, Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi are gearing up to welcome fans and players for an unforgettable cricket spectacle.
The 2025 Champions Trophy promises to be a thrilling event, with Lahore at the heart of the action. Cricket enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly counting down the days to what could be one of the most memorable tournaments in recent history.
