Exploring Starfield: A Review by Sports Side

Starfield, a game released on September 6, 2023, is the only addition to the franchise, Bethesda, after the Elder Scrolls. Bethesda is known for its ability to create extensive maps to play with (as they did with the Elder Scrolls). But when it comes to Starfield, they have taken map exploration and extensiveness to a whole other level. There are more than 1,000 maps that players can adventure on.

The anticipation created by Bethesda when they announced the game back in 2018 was fuel for Sci-Fi lovers and fanatics. But in actuality, the game didn’t deliver the same that it seemed to have promised. All of their other productions have a sense of thrill and discovery, but Starfield doesn’t provide that kind. With its fast menu, you can indeed travel to each and every one of those 1,000 planets, mitigating that adventure instinct.

One thing they did well for the game was a quirkily pleasing central quest. When it comes to Starfield’s dialogue is excellent and unimaginative at the same time. On top of that, players also gave their verdict, as the game became Bethesda’s lowest-rated game on Steam.

Reason Behind Starfield’s Low Rating:

The potential aspects of this production’s low rating can be the vocalness of players about the choice of the player’s pronoun in the game. NPC facial animation has also come under the radar. According to the gamers, the facial expressions of the NPCs are stiff. Although this is the game with the most minor bugs to date from Bethesda, still they have been reported. Apart from that procedurally generated content has also been a headache.

Players have found the same named NPC’s corpse in the same position in three different caves, on three different planets, all this in a single session of play. They have to mix up a little bit. Other complaints include a limited number of companions to carry out romance with, no particular way to keep up with the lore, no ground mode of transportation, and painful space dogfights.

Our Verdict:

Being a company that releases large-scale games, Bethesda will surely improve Starfield going forward. Like all the previous releases, Starfield is also expected to receive major updates, new DLCs, in-game activities, and mods for the players. Hence, if the score on Steam worries you about the future of Starfield, then be relieved as it is not going to stay the same and will improve in times ahead.
